Guidelines

  • An internship is generally available to a student who has achieved junior status and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Some majors may have specific requirements.
  • Internships may be voluntary or mandatory. Voluntary internships are arranged through the Career Services office. Mandatory internships are arranged through the department applicable.
  • An internship may be paid or unpaid. Compensation is at the discretion of the company/agency.
  • A student may apply for one (1) academic credit for every fifty (50) hours of internship work completed.
  • A maximum of six (6) academic credits for internships may be counted toward degree requirements with the approval of the respective advisor and the Dean.
  • The duration of an internship is normally one semester or summer. Internships will be limited to a maximum of 15 hours per week and 3 credit hours per semester for a full-time student taking at least 12 credit hours. Summer internships are usually 40 hours/week when the student is not taking courses.
  • The internship application must be completed and approved by the University before the internship commences.
  • The University accepts no liability for injury and/or damages occurring while performing the internship, or traveling to and from the site.
