The Center for Leadership sponsors notable speakers and an annual leadership conference.
In November, the Center for Leadership sponsored a talk by Ismael Hernandez, founder of the Freedom and Virtue Institute. His riveting talk, "From Communist Revolutionary to Committed Catholic: My Journey of Faith" described his political transformation and deep spiritual conversion. Hernandez, a native of Puerto Rico, was driven during his youth by the desire to destroy America. Inspired by the writings of Fr. Sirico, founder of the Acton Institute and a member of the Center for Leadership's Board of Advisors, the former revolutionary came to embrace free market economic principles and formed a new vision of society based on self-reliance, individual freedom, and a rejection of dependency and entitlement. Hernandez's Freedom and Virtue Institute aims to give people the opportunity to live out the principles of a free and virtuous society.
