Engineering Position Available

The Department of Chemistry and Physics at the Franciscan University of Steubenville invites applications for a tenure track position in engineering (open rank). We are specifically looking for candidates with the following qualities and strengths:

  1. a Ph.D. in engineering, or closely-related field, at the time of employment;preparedness and enthusiasm to teach basic engineering courses in statics, dynamics, solid mechanics (strength of materials), and thermodynamics;
  2. Commitment to develop one or more introductory-level electrical engineering courses;
  3. ability to develop and support student internships;
  4. commitment to support the growth of the University’s pre-engineering program in partnership with other universities;
  5. commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service, and support of the Mission of the University;
  6. candidates possessing professional engineering certification and project management experience are especially encouraged to apply.

The following materials are to be submitted for a candidate’s application to be deemed compliant and eligible for further consideration:

  • a cover letter outlining the candidate’s strengths in support of the advertised position
  • a statement of teaching philosophy and ability to support student internship opportunities
  • a statement that supports the mission of the Franciscan University of Steubenville and demonstrates a commitment to the Catholic intellectual tradition
  • a statement of research interests and evidence of publications in the stated field(s)
  • evidence of undergraduate teaching effectiveness (including evaluations), especially for the noted courses
