All graduate students who are U.S. citizens and enrolled at least half time (5 credit hours) per semester are eligible for student loans administered through the Federal Stafford Loan Program. This eligibility is not based on the amount of income reported in the previous tax year. However, income reported may enable the student to receive a subsidized loan (an interest-free loan while in school) as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Graduate students may borrow up to $20,500 per nine-month academic year and $30,750 per twelve-month calendar year, depending on the type of program and number of credits for which the student has registered.
Application for this aid may be made on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov or through the Franciscan University of Steubenville's Financial Aid Office at 740-283-6226. Work-study money is also available through the director of the Student Work Opportunity Program (SWOP), 740-283-6296.
