Any medical emergencies that occurs after the Health Center is closed or on weekends will be assessed by the Residence Director on call to determine if it is an emergency situation necessitating calling Ambulance Services or transport to the local emergency room. If it is not an emergency the student will be directed to seek assistance at the Health Center the next day of operation.
If it is a psychiatric emergency after normal business hours, the Residence Director on call or Catherine Heck will call Joseph Loizzo, director of the Wellness Center, who will determine if the student needs to be hospitalized immediately or evaluated the next business day at Campus Counseling Services. If the student needs to be evaluated immediately, the local emergency room will be used and the student will be transported either by personal vehicle, ambulance, or police, depending on the circumstances.
