STEUBENVILLE,
OH—Abby Johnson, former Planned Parenthood director and author of
unPlanned, will speak in Finnegan Fieldhouse at Franciscan University of
Steubenville on Monday, April 18 at 8:30 p.m. A major new leader in the
pro-life movement who will enter the Catholic Church at Easter, Johnson
will speak about her transition from an abortion clinic director for
Planned Parenthood to a pro-life advocate.
Johnson's talk is sponsored by Franciscan University's Students for Life
club. "For many years we have been praying outside abortion clinics and
Planned Parenthood," said Brother John Paoletti, MIC, club president.
"Abby Johnson is a witness that our prayerful presence has a powerful
impact on the women who enter and on the employees." Noting that the
fruits of Johnson's conversion are abundant in her two years in the
pro-life movement, he added, "The pro-life movement is stronger than
ever today and much of that has do with the courage of Abby Johnson."
Johnson will be received into the Catholic Church five days after her
talk at Franciscan University. The event begins with a short pro-life
musical performance by Franciscan students. After her talk, Johnson will
sign copies of her book, which can be purchased for $20. There is no
charge for the event, though donations will be accepted to help defray
costs.
