Due to the continued interest in Creative Cornerstones we will offer 3 identical conferences.
Day 1
- PreK - K
- Getting "CONCRETE" with the COMMON CORE
We will be learning how to incorporate hands-on-learning strategies and how to construct your own activities/centers/games to implement the Common Core and the Ohio Revised Standards for Social Studies and Science. Differentiation approaches and strategies will be discussed as well as suggestions for project-based learning activities to align with the new standards. You will have the opportunity to make hands-on activities for each standard area. You will also receive a variety of activities to support classroom instruction from web-based resources.

- Rigor Made Easy!
Amp up your teaching with tools and strategies that are aligned to the Common Core State Standards! These hands on/minds on activities integrate literacy across the curriculum and will keep your students actively engaged. In this practical presentation, participants will explore learning activities to use every day to raise the level of rigor in the classroom.

- Enrichment Activities to Spark Student Interest
A Variety of activities will be presented in this session to motivate your students. From using the thesaurus to create “young adult” versions of picture books, to accordion photo books, $100 words, and pop-up 3D characters, you will leave with many ideas to start using in your classroom in a whole group, small group or station setting. In addition, this session will demonstrate how to use popular TV show formats like The Apprentice to motivate your students to produce their best work.

- A.M. & P.M. — Ideas, Ideas, Ideas — Making Spring Centers the Best They Can Be
What’s the best cure for the winter blahs? Themed centers you and your PreK-K students can be excited about. Now that your year is flowing smoothly and students are gaining independence, extend your themes. These center and small group ideas will keep students actively involved so you can meet the needs of individuals or groups. Come prepared to be introduced to activities you can use right away.

- A.M. — Engagement in Writing Across the Curriculum
Engage your students in writing! Explore cross-curricular writing themes and activities and create an assortment of templates the will motivate your young writers. These activities and templates’ will inspire your students while developing their confidence and improving their writing skills. Participants will explore a variety of engaging writing themes aligned with children’s literature and the Common Core Standards that can be used throughout the year.

- P.M. — Shhhhhh..don't tell them they are learning!
This session will provide teachers with the opportunity to think outside the box where it comes to teaching and reinforcing concepts in language arts and math with the primary aged students. Higher level thinking skills will be modeled. Games, chants, rhymes and lessons will provide instant lessons that can be implemented from the first day of school until the end of the year.

Have the new Common Core Standards got you down? Come to this session to “unbottle” your frustrations ( with our bottle ecosystems) , get “blown” away (by making land formations) and find out what really “matters” investigating matter)!
