At Franciscan University, you’ll find our all of our programs at both the graduate and undergraduate levels to be academically excellent and our environment passionately Catholic. This winning—and respected—combination leads to success in your career, in your community, in your family, and in your life.

With our student/faculty ratio of 15:1, you’ll have a faculty advisor who knows you by name, and you’ll learn from professors who care deeply about you and the quality of your academic work. You’ll benefit from the guidance of our faculty scholars  as they take a flexible and personal approach to our curriculum in the classroom, in the laboratory, and in the field.

Our programs range from chemistry to business to theology, with something to offer no matter what your interests may be. In addition to our major programs of study, Franciscan University also offers seven specialized minor programs, allowing you to complement your major with a secondary subject.

If you wish to immerse yourself in the culture of another country, Franciscan offers Study Abroad programs in Austria, England, and Spain, and we offer partnerships for those students who wish to design their own Study Abroad program in even more countries.

All undergraduate degree programs require you to complete a Core Curriculum that provides you with a foundation of essential knowledge across a breadth of disciplines including theology, history, mathematics, economics, science literature and Catholic studies.

You’ll be challenged to integrate the intellectual and the spiritual dimensions of your education as you learn to reason and communicate effectively while pursuing your goals. Our faculty members challenge themselves the same way—and are recognized nationally for their professional contributions, including four who have served as Fulbright scholars.

At the invitation of the Vatican, Franciscan faculty contributed papers published worldwide for a plenary assembly and a dicastery meeting. Franciscan also hosted a series of ground-breaking academic conferences on Catholic higher education; bioethics in health care; Christian philosophy; marriage, sexuality, and family life; and faith and media. Franciscan has also established chairs to emphasize our commitment to studying some of the most pressing issues of our day: Dr. Patrick Lee is the first holder of the John N. and Jamie D. McAleer Chair in Bioethics, and Dr. Scott Hahn is the inaugural Father Michael Scanlan, TOR, chair in Biblical Theology and the New Evangelization.

U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 Guide to America’s Best Colleges named Franciscan to the elite “Top Tier” of Midwest universities inits category for the eleventh year in a row. Franciscan also remains a perennial "Recommended Catholic College" in The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College.
