  • Amicitia Catechetica

Amicitia Catechetica means "Catechetical Friendship."  This catechetical friendship is comprised of Maryvale Institute in Birmingham, England, Nortre-Dame de Vie in Venasque, France and Franciscan University of Steubenville. The purpose of the relationship is to share our common work in the catechetical field and foster its development, as well as to learn about the particular expertise of each. The larger goal is not just to learn internally, but also to help renew catechesis throughout the Church. Christoph Cardinal Schönborn, who recognized the contributions to Catechesis taking place at the three institutions, initiated our relationship in 2003.

The member institutions of Amicitia Catechetica have met four times, first in Gaming, Austria, in 2003, then in Birmingham, England, in 2007, followed by Rome in 2009, and for the fourth time here at Franciscan University of Steubenville in 2011.
