Brief Bio

Professor Susan Poyo is thankful that the Lord has blessed her with the opportunity to serve as a full time faculty member at Franciscan University. Her passion for teaching began with inner city students in Miami, Fl. After relocating to Raleigh, NC, Professor Poyo taught both Math and Reading in public and private institutions.

Professor Poyo has performed research and continued study in the areas of both Reading and the integration of technology in the classroom. She is interested in pursuing further research in these areas.

When not in class or on campus with her household, Professor Poyo can be found enjoying books with her granddaughters, dreaming up beach vacations with her five daughters, or running with her husband Ralph and their dog, Patch.
