    Program Requirements

For either your MS in Education or your MS in Educational Administration, you will need to take 36 credit hours, complete a master's project, attend and evaluate two graduate-level exit conferences, and successfully deliver a presentation at a departmental exit conference. Both programs also require that you take the same core classes, including Philosophical studies in Education and Educational Research Methodology. This ensures that you have the philosophical foundations and research skills you need to succeed in today's educational environment.

After completing the core area of studies, you will move on to courses in your specific concentration. MS Education students will need to take courses in Human Development, Curriculum, Models of Teaching, and Computers in Education, as well as a number of electives. You can also pursue an MS in Education with a Reading Teacher Endorsement by taking electives such as Teaching the Great Books, Literature for Children and Adolescents, and Advances Developmental Reading.

If you are working toward your MS in Educational Administration, there are six different degree tracks from which you can choose: Curriculum Instruction and Professional Development, Educational Staff Personnel Administration, School Community Relations, Principal (Ages 3-14), Principal (Ages 8-21), and Superintendent. Licensure requirements are built into the Principal and Superintendent tracks, while additional coursework (available through Franciscan University) is required if you would like to obtain your Administrator Specialist License for one of the other degree tracks.
