As a senior in high school, I knew I wanted four things in a college. First, I wanted to go to a top Catholic school, one that was excellent academically but that was also faithful to the Church. Second, I wanted a school that offered me the opportunity to study abroad. Third, it needed to have a strong business program. And finally, I was hoping for the opportunity to continue playing sports.
At Franciscan, I found all four.
At Franciscan, I found all four. I’ve got top-notch professors who are continually challenging me both to learn more and grow in my faith. I’ll also soon be going to Austria, where Franciscan houses its study abroad program in a 14th-century monastery, and traveling through Europe on the weekends. My business classes are great: They’re taught by professors who’ve worked in the field and know how important it is to incorporate Catholic values into your work. Best of all, I get to play NCAA basketball with a team that’s totally dedicated to playing for God.
The decision to play basketball here was definitely a good one. My dream is to work as an athletic director at a Catholic high school. You can have such a big impact on youth at that level, and here, I’ve learned what a tool for character formation sports can be. Thanks to my coach and the other guys, I’ve grown in my faith and grown as a person.
Whether it’s basketball, my classes, or the friendships I’ve made, everything at Franciscan is helping me become the person I want to be, the person God made me to be. How many schools can you say that about?
