"When my mother and I visited campus, we felt comfortable right away"

I chose nursing as a major after several people told me I would be good at it. I remember helping sick animals and going to nursing homes as a Girl Scout. When my grandfather and brother were ill, I saw nursing care as both a vocation and a way to serve. I also think it’s great to be Catholic and pursue a profession that originated with nuns.

I found Franciscan University through my godfather, who’s an alumnus. When my mother and I visited campus, we felt comfortable right away. Although I never thought I would end up in Ohio, the decision to attend was a peaceful one because I knew I could continue to learn about the faith while gaining a strong education in nursing. Franciscan lets me integrate faith and vocation in service.

Franciscan nursing faculty are very knowledgeable and passionate about their subjects. They maintain high standards and push you to excel, which makes you want to learn more. I’ve already had clinical rotations at medical centers in Steubenville, Ohio; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Weirton and Wheeling, West Virginia.

At Franciscan, I’m able to balance social life and challenging academics. I can grab coffee, hang out on campus, or meet my study group. It’s a place where you can give, receive, and grow.
