  • Advising Office

    104 EGAN HALL

The Advising Office is here to help students plan for degree completion. We can help you with scheduling, degree options, time shortening options, and general questions.

    Midterm Deficiencies

Should you receive deficiencies at midterm, we can provide you with helpful information about what choices are available to you. Immediate attention to these problems will save you stress and concern later. If you have multiple deficiencies, you will receive a letter from the director of Advising requesting an appointment. Multiple deficiencies indicate that there are issues which should be dealt with quickly.

    Beware of Bad Advice

Beware of advice. Sometimes, in their desire to be helpful, fellow students do not always give sound advice. Come to the Advising Office, and we can help you find the correct answer to your questions. Poor advice is an injustice to you and could result in a disaster later.

Go to All Of Your Classes

Attend your classes. You are paying good money for a good education. If you do not attend classes, you are throwing that money away. Education is not cheap; so do not cheapen your education by not attending classes.

    Health or Family Emergencies

Should you have problems with your health, a family emergency, or be hospitalized, have your Residence Hall Director, your room mate if you live off campus, or your parents contact the Advising Office. Notices will be sent to your professors about the cause of your absence. These are not excuse notices, but just notification that the director of Advising is aware of the situation. Extended health problems will be referred to Tina Maroni in Student Academic Support Services.

    Basic Information for all students:

To complete a Bachelor’s Degree—there is a minimum 124 credit requirement, a 2.0 QPA in the major courses, and a 2.0 QPA overall. Transferred course grades do not transfer to FUS.

Franciscan University students must complete a liberal arts core of 48 credits in addition to their major requirements.

Franciscan University of Steubenville does not allow concurrent registration (attending another college while enrolled at Franciscan University). During the summer, students may take classes at another institution but approval from the Department Chairs must be obtained before enrollment is allowed.

The last 30 credits of your college career must be completed at Franciscan University.
