STEUBENVILLE, OH —Franciscan University’s Sacred Music Program will bring the semester to a close with two spring concerts.
On Sunday, April 19, the Chorale Concert will feature sacred and secular music at 8:00 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel.
The concert is an entirely a cappella program, including secular Renaissance music from Italy, France, and Germany, and American spirituals.
On Saturday, April 25, the combined forces of the Franciscan Chamber Orchestra, Schola Cantorum Franciscana, and Franciscan University Chorale will present a concert of sacred music at 8:00 p.m. in St. Peter's Catholic Church on 4th Street in Steubenville.
The program will include Joseph Rheinberger's powerful and lyrical Stabat Mater (Mary at Her Station Keeping) and music for multiple choirs by 17th-century German masters.
