Research and Safety
Franciscan University of Steubenville recognizes that academic research is an essential part of its core mission as a Catholic University. According to the apostolic constitution Ex corde ecclesiae, the Catholic University "is a place of research, where scholars scrutinize reality with the methods proper to each academic discipline, and so contribute to the treasury of human knowledge."
Taking this charge seriously, the University has established a variety of committees, guidelines and policies to aid faculty, staff and students who are engaging in academic research. These guidelines and policies, which are particularly relevant to the natural and social sciences, will help ensure that the research performed at Franciscan University is done in an ethical manner that is compliant with all federal and state regulations. IN addition, the University is also committed to assisting faculty in their effort to obtain funding and support from both external and internal sources.
Through this oversight and assistance, the University is dedicated to focusing a climate that encourages and facilitates research collaboration amongst its faculty, staff and students, with the goals of both contributing to the treasury of human knowledge and enriching experience of our students
