STEUBENVILLE, OH—The Franciscan Film Society will present director Terrence Malick’s film,
The Tree of Life, on Friday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. in Anathan Theatre at Franciscan University of Steubenville. The screening is free and open to the public.
Starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, the 2011 Academy Award nominated film traces the journey of the eldest son, Jack, through childhood innocence to his disillusioned adult years. Jack questions the meaning of life and the existence of faith, while showing how brute nature and spiritual grace shape all aspects of human existence.
A panel discussion with Franciscan University professors will follow. The film is rated A-II (adults and adolescents) by Catholic News Service for mature subject matter.
