By submitting content to Franciscan University of Steubenville or any of its officially affiliated entities, organizations, programs, conferences, or events (all referred to as “Franciscan”)—including by tagging an official Franciscan social media account, using a hashtag promoted by Franciscan, or otherwise sharing content in response to a campaign by Franciscan—you agree to and accept the following terms and conditions of this UGC Policy (the “Policy”).

If you do not agree to the terms of this Policy, please do not respond to our campaign requests, use Franciscan hashtags, or otherwise submit your content to us.

Franciscan University of Steubenville is a Catholic university that educates, evangelizes, and sends forth joyful disciples for lives of worldwide mission. Franciscan includes individual outreach ministries such as Faith and Reason, Austria Study Abroad, Steubenville Conferences, and more. What These Terms Cover

This Policy applies to Franciscan’s use of your content—including but not limited to images, photographs, videos, testimonials, posts, reels, carousels, captions, and comments (collectively, “Content”)—that you may provide to us via social media platforms or otherwise, including by tagging official Franciscan social media accounts or using hashtags promoted by Franciscan, including without limitation: @francisanuniversity, @austriastudyabroad, @fusfaithandreason, and #YesFranciscan on social media platforms.

Any personal information provided or contained in your Content or submission thereof will be handled in accordance with Franciscan’s Privacy Policy.

Grant of License and Rights

  1. By providing your Content to us, you hereby grant Franciscan a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, transferable, and sub-licensable license to use, reproduce, modify, publish, adapt, display, distribute, and create derivative works from your Content for any purpose and in any media format now known or developed in the future.
  2. You acknowledge and agree that your Content may be used across all official Franciscan channels, including but not limited to @francisanuniversity, @go2steubenville, @austriastudyabroad, @fusfaithandreason, and any other affiliated accounts owned and operated by Franciscan.
  3. You agree that your Content may be used in both organic and paid campaigns, including social media, websites, digital ads, email marketing, print materials, and fundraising or promotional campaigns. Franciscan reserves the right to edit, crop, overlay text or logos, adjust colors, or otherwise adapt your Content as needed for branding and promotional purposes.
  4. Franciscan has the right, but not the obligation, to use your Content, with or without credit to you. You hereby grant Franciscan the right to use your name, social media handle, likeness, personal story, testimonial, and other biographic information that may be included in your Content.
  5. You retain ownership of your Content. These Terms and the license granted herein do not transfer any ownership rights of your Content to Franciscan.
  6. You may revoke permission for future use of your Content by emailing [email protected]. Please note that upon such request, Franciscan will not use your Content in any new or future materials from the date permission is revoked. However, Content which is already published (e.g., in posts, paid ads, or print materials) may remain in use.

Your Responsibilities

By sharing your Content with us, you agree that:

  1. You own or have all necessary rights to the Content and permission to grant this license;
  2. The Content does not infringe upon any third-party rights, including copyrights, trademarks, privacy, or publicity rights;
  3. You have obtained permission from all identifiable individuals in the Content and they are over the age of 18, or if they are under 18 years old, you have obtained permission from a parent or legal guardian;
  4. You are at least 18 years old, or you have obtained consent from a parent or legal guardian;
  5. The Content does not contain harmful, offensive, illegal, or malicious material, false, misleading, or deceptive information, or commercial promotions, spam, or viruses;
  6. Content shall be appropriate for a family audience and must not contain unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, obscene, inappropriate, unsafe, or hateful material;
  7. Any testimonial, opinion, or statement provided in your Content reflects your honest beliefs and experiences; and
  8. Content complies with the terms of use of the social media platform(s) on which it is shared.

No Compensation

You understand and agree that no compensation, royalty, or other payment will be provided to you for our use of your Content.

Indemnification and Limited Liability

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Franciscan, its officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or related to your Content, including but not limited to any breach of your responsibilities under these Terms.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Franciscan shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the use of your Content.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to any conflict of law provisions.
