STEUBENVILLE, OH—Father Sean O. Sheridan, TOR, president of Franciscan University of Steubenville, recently named Brenan Pergi vice president of Human Resources.

Pergi has served as executive director of Human Resources at Franciscan University since 2008. He previously worked as the assistant director of Financial Aid at Franciscan University (1999-2003), controller at Ave Maria University (2003-2006), and director of Budget and Planning at Wheeling Jesuit University (2006-2008). He received both his undergraduate and MBA degrees from Franciscan University.

Father Sheridan said he welcomed the opportunity to work with Pergi in his new role. “I have observed first hand Pergi’s problem-solving skills and technical competencies as well as his dedication to the mission, vision, and values of the University. I look forward to his continued support as the University moves forward with many new and exciting ventures,” said Father Sheridan.

As executive director of Human Resources, Pergi worked on a number of key projects that advanced the mission of Franciscan University. Among them, he developed comprehensive salary and benefits programs to enable the University to maintain and recruit dedicated individuals; proactively managed the University’s health plan in an increasingly complex regulatory environment and saved the University and its employees hundreds of thousands of dollars by facilitating University membership in a health insurance consortium; and served as Franciscan’s first ever Title IX, Clery Act, and EEO coordinator.

As vice president, Pergi will oversee these and other activities in the Human Resources department and hire for a new position: the director of Campus Safety and Compliance.

The director will be responsible for the management of all campus safety, security, and compliance activities and services. The director will also oversee the University’s compliance with the Clery Act, manage all aspects of the University’s Title IX compliance, and manage the University’s Occupational Health and Safety Program—three increasingly important job functions that will include the development of employee training programs and ongoing awareness and prevention campaigns.

Established in 1946, Franciscan University integrates strong academics with a dynamic faith environment to form a vibrant Catholic intellectual and faith community of over 2,400 students from all 50 states and 12 countries.
