STEUBENVILLE, OH—Earlier this summer, Forbes Magazine ranked Franciscan University of Steubenville among the top 10 percent of all colleges and universities in its annual list of America’s 660 “Top Colleges.” This marked the third consecutive year Franciscan University made Forbes’ elite list.

In the four ensuing weeks, Forbes held its “#MyTopCollege” competition, a crowd-sourced competition in which Forbes asks for students and alumni to share via social media the reasons they call their institution “MyTopCollege.”

Entries were submitted for more than 100 schools, and on August 4, Forbes announced the winners. Franciscan University was the “hands-down winner” of the medium-sized institutions—those with 2,000-15,000 students.

In naming Franciscan the winner, the judges said, “Franciscan students wowed us with their posts about faith, friendships, and travel,” citing Franciscan’s households, friendships, spouses, the Austria Study Abroad Program, and the Missions of Peace Program, among other highlights.

Forbes’ judges included one of the posts submitted in support of Franciscan University as one of their “Favorite #MyTopCollege Photos 2016.” In the photo submitted by Franciscan employee Tom Crowe, Most Rev. Jeffrey Monforton, bishop of Steubenville, fist-bumps a man as he recesses from Finnegan Fieldhouse following the closing Mass at a Summer Youth Conference.
