STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—Franciscan University of Steubenville today announced Richard Rollino as its next vice president of Finance. He begins work on February 14, assuming the stewardship of Franciscan University’s financial resources from David Skiviat, vice president of Finance and Administration, who will retire this year.

Franciscan University President Father Sean O. Sheridan, TOR, welcomed Rollino’s addition to the Administrators’ Council saying, “With experience in higher education and entrepreneurial leadership, Rick Rollino combines the knowledge and talents needed in higher education’s changing financial environment along with a passion for Franciscan University’s Catholic mission. I am happy he has joined us as we seek to advance our mission under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, educating, evangelizing, and sending forth joyful disciples.”

Rollino came to Franciscan University from Wyoming Catholic College in Lander, Wyoming, where he worked as executive vice president and treasurer from 2011-2018. During his tenure, he reshaped the college’s financial base, helped develop and execute the strategic plan, and guided the annual budget process, seeing the student population increase by 60 percent and programs expand to reach new constituents.

For 25 years, Rollino worked for media and advertising companies as senior vice president and chief financial officer. He was responsible for overseeing all financial, production, and customer service duties with revenues to $90 million, before he moved from the private sector to the more “rewarding” field of Catholic higher education.

“I have a calling to serve the Church and to assist in the formation of mature, responsible adults on fire with their faith. Seeing the transformation of students after four years of deeply Catholic higher education is very rewarding,” Rollino said. “I am grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to use my financial skills at Franciscan University, which is truly unique among faithfully Catholic universities.”

As vice president of Finance, Rollino oversees financial affairs and business operations including leading the University’s Business and Finance Division, aligning financial resources to achieve operational goals, maintaining a balanced budget, managing investments, and overseeing facility infrastructures. He reports to Bill Gorman, Franciscan’s new chief operating officer.

Originally from California, Rollino earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an accounting emphasis from the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of community organizations such as the Rotary Club of Lander and the Lander Economic Development Association for which he served as president.

Rick and his wife, Mary, have been married for 31 years and have five children and two grandchildren.
