Covering 100% of Tuition for Fall 2020

Through the Step in Faith Plan, Franciscan University of Steubenville will cover 100% of tuition after scholarships and grants for new students, whether new freshmen or transfers, for the fall 2020 semester.

Here are some questions you may have:

What happens to my merit scholarship? Nothing! It’s yours!  Your merit scholarship remains unchanged.  We are covering your out-of-pocket tuition costs after your scholarships and grants.

What happens to my Franciscan Grant? Nothing! It’s yours! Your Franciscan Grant remains unchanged.  We are covering your out-of-pocket tuition costs after your scholarships and grants.

I have a federal or state grant (Pell, Ohio Grant). How does this factor in? – Your Pell grant remains unchanged.  We will cover the out-of-pocket tuition cost that remains after all your scholarships and grants (including Pell or Ohio Grant).

I have an outside scholarship. How does that factor in? We will cover the out-of-pocket tuition cost that remains after all your scholarships and grants (this includes any outside scholarships you may bring with you to Franciscan).  We will abide by all requirements of the scholarship.

Can I hold and use all my outside scholarships in the spring 2021 semester? – This depends on the requirements of your scholarship. Many scholarships state that the funds must be used in the fall semester or first semester that you are enrolled. Therefore, we will abide by all requirements of the scholarship. If your scholarship can be used in another semester other than fall 2020, we will accommodate that for you, and funds will be applied to the spring semester.

What will my spring semester financial aid award look like? Your spring financial aid package will include all your same scholarships and grants from the fall semester, but it will not include the Franciscan Step in Faith.

I’m a transfer student. Does this apply to me? Yes, this applies to all new transfer students who will be full-time undergraduate students studying in an on-campus program.

I am a new student who is not living on campus. Does this apply to me? Yes! You do not need to live on campus to receive the 100% tuition coverage after scholarships and grants for the fall 2020 semester.  This includes both new students who meet requirements to live off campus and commuter students who live at home with their parents.

If I defer my acceptance to spring 2021, can I receive this tuition coverage benefit in the spring? What if I defer for one year to fall 2021? – No. If you choose to defer to another semester, then you will not receive the 100% tuition coverage after scholarships and grants. This is for new students enrolling for the fall 2020 semester. We will, however, hold your merit scholarship for you until you enroll.

Can you cover my room and board for the fall? No, but we will cover 100% of your tuition after scholarships and grants for the fall 2020 semester.

Does this affect your SWOP program? No. You are still free to obtain a job on campus. Our Student Work Opportunity Program (SWOP) remains unchanged.

I just don’t think I want enroll on campus this fall 2020, but I do want to study as an online undergraduate this fall. Can I have my tuition covered for online classes for the fall 2020 semester? Or can I have my tuition covered in the spring or fall when I switch from online to on-campus studies? – No. This is only for new full-time undergraduate students studying on campus in fall 2020.

I already have my tuition covered. Can this apply to my room and board? – No.

Does this cover any fees associated with enrollment? – No, this only applies to tuition.

Does this apply to high school dual enrollment or part-time students? – No.
