Accounting Students to Assist Local Residents with Taxes
Franciscan University students mark 30 years of free tax services.

STEUBENVILLE, OH—Accounting students at Franciscan University of Steubenville will offer free e-filing assistance to Ohio Valley residents through the Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA). From February 13 through April 13, 2018, the students will be available four days a week near center court in the Fort Steuben Mall, across from the AT&T store.

Hours of operation are Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The site will be closed from March 10 to March 18 for spring break and March 29 to April 2 for Easter.

The Franciscan University students can prepare form 1040; schedules A, B, and D; and forms for calculating education, child care, and earned-income credits. They will be available to assist taxpayers with income less than $58,000.  All participating students have completed an individual income tax course and have passed a series of IRS training courses and exams.

This marks the 30th year that Franciscan University students have participated in this program.
