STEUBENVILLE, OH— Franciscan University of Steubenville has awarded the 2016 Amanda Looman Memorial Scholarship to Steubenville Catholic Central High School graduate Emily Kissinger. Kissinger, a freshman biology major at Franciscan University, is enrolled in courses that will prepare her for medical school.
The annual scholarship is awarded to a Catholic Central graduate who is involved in leadership activities and successfully completes an essay titled “What is leadership and how have I demonstrated leadership?”
The scholarship is named in memory of Amanda Looman, a Catholic Central alumna who was a senior at Franciscan University when she died following an October 2013 traffic accident. She was a double major in business and marketing and a member of the soccer team.
An endowed scholarship, the Amanda Looman Memorial Scholarship was made possible by many donations from the family and friends of Amanda Looman.
