Criminal Justice Day

The Admission’s Office and Criminal Justice Program at Franciscan University of Steubenville are sponsoring Criminal Justice Day on Friday, February 11, where students may learn about the program and career paths in law enforcement.

The event will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph Center Seminar Room. Prospective students and current Franciscan students can meet with representatives of the Ohio State Police, Lexington, Kentucky Police Department, Ohio Wildlife Officers, the U.S. Secret Service, Prosecutor’s Office, Private Security, the Drug Enforcement Agency, and other agencies to learn about career paths in criminal justice.

Dr. Charles Nemeth, director of Franciscan’s Criminal Justice Program, will also be present to answer questions about educational requirements, applications, and hiring processes in the field.

Free refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact Dr. Charles Nemeth at [email protected].

Aquinas and King Seminar

The Center for Criminal Justice, Law, and Ethics at Franciscan University of Steubenville will offer a continuing legal education course for justice practitioners and the legal community February 25, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Aquinas and King: A Discourse on Civil Disobedience will explore the ways Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy of non-violent disobedience throughout the civil rights movement adhered to St. Thomas Aquinas’ teachings on justice and injustice in human law as dictated by natural law reasoning.

This seminar is led by Dr. Charles Nemeth, director of Franciscan’s Criminal Justice Program and the author of over 50 books on criminal justice, jurisprudence, and legal philosophy. The seminar will be held on the campus of Franciscan University in the St. Joseph Center’s Totino Room.

The $149 registration fee includes a light breakfast and lunch. For more information, visit franciscan.edu/law-ethics or contact Dr. Charles Nemeth at [email protected].
