STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—Franciscan University of Steubenville President Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, has published a new book, Joyful Sons and Daughters: Embracing the Father’s Love, with The Word Among Us Press.

“More than 150 times in the Bible, Jesus refers to God as Father. Understanding God as our Father is fundamental to our Christian faith, and yet many today struggle to embrace this truth,” Father Pivonka said. “I hope this book helps people to experience healing and see themselves as sons and daughters of a Father who loves perfectly and satisfies the deepest longings of their hearts.”

In his approachable writing style, Father Pivonka draws both from his personal experience and the experiences and wisdom of respected Catholics to explore what it means to be a son or daughter of God. He addresses the role of earthly fathers, priestly spiritual fatherhood, the model of the Holy Family, and how Jesus Christ reveals God the Father.

Each short chapter also concludes with questions to encourage readers to reflect on their own experiences with fatherhood and deepen their relationship with God as a good and loving Father.

The book is based on My father’s Father, Father Pivonka’s 2024 video series produced by 10th Hour Productions. In this six-part documentary series, Father Pivonka explored how people’s relationships with earthly fathers can impact their experience of their heavenly Father.
