STEUBENVILLE, OH—For the second year in a row, Franciscan University of Steubenville has been included in the FORBES list of America’s Top Colleges, ranking in the top 10 percent of America’s 4,706 degree-granting institutions.

A leading source of business news and financial information, FORBES uses outcome-based criteria to compile an annual list of the best colleges and universities in America.

“This is a new age of return-on-investment education, the very heart of our definitive ranking,” said FORBES writer, Caroline Howard. “Our focus is on just one measurement: outcomes. From low student debt and high graduation rates to student satisfaction and career success, these outstanding institutions are worth it.”

Franciscan appeared in three FORBES categories: Private Colleges (298th), Midwest Colleges (99th), and “Grateful Grads” (199th), which measures the satisfaction of graduates by assessing the median amount of donations alumni make to their alma maters over a 10-year period.

In its profile of Franciscan University, FORBES mentioned the University’s dual-degree engineering undergraduate program, which partners with the University of Notre Dame, Gannon University, and the University of Dayton. FORBES also highlighted Franciscan’s faith households, domestic and international mission trips, and study abroad program in Gaming, Austria.

Franciscan University is one of only four Catholic colleges featured in both the Cardinal Newman Society’s Guide to recommended Catholic colleges and FORBES America’s Top Colleges. Additionally, it is the only Catholic university included in both Kiplinger’s Personal Finance “Top 100 Best Values” and the Newman Guide.

As a run-up to its annual America’s Top Colleges rankings, FORBES conducted a #MyTopCollege campaign. Franciscan University finished in first place in the Midwest division by a large margin and was first runner-up nationally. The campaign was driven by hundreds of Franciscan alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students, and parents, who shared via Twitter and Instagram why they regard Franciscan as #MyTopCollege.
