STEUBENVILLE, OH—For the 42nd consecutive summer, Franciscan University of Steubenville will host dynamic adult conferences packed with inspirational speakers, engaging workshops, and fresh opportunities to encounter the Catholic faith.
Kicking off the summer, the Power and Purpose Conference will be held June 9-11. Centered around the theme “Abide and Arise,” participants will be invited to draw deeper into the mystery of the Father’s love and to be more open to his transformative presence in their lives. Hosted by Dave VanVickle with worship led by Bob Rice, the conference will feature John Beaulieu, Father Joseph Freedy, Barbara Heil, Deacon Larry Oney, Chris Padgett, Sister Ann Shields, SGL, Casey Sprehe, and Father Matt Williams.
The Priests, Deacons, and Seminarians Retreat, June 19-23, will address the theme “The Gift of God.” As the flame of Christ’s passion often fades in the midst of ministry and concerns of the world, this conference seeks to rekindle the fire of God’s love in the hearts of those called to Holy Orders. Hosted by Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, and worship leader Bob Rice, speakers include Bishop Christian Riesbeck, Champion of the Cross, Deacon Craig Anderson, Father Derek Anderson, SOLT, John Beaulieu, Dr. John Bergsma, Father Joseph Espaillat II, Dr. Andrew Minto, Patti Mansfield, Deacon Ralph Poyo, and Father Thomas Valenti.
The St. John Bosco Conference, July 17-20, is open to those seeking certification or additional training in campus ministry, catechetics, youth ministry, the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, or religious education. The theme, “Jesus, Our Hope,” draws inspiration from Matthew 19:26: “…with God, all things are possible.” Featured speakers include Bishop David L. Ricken, Jim Beckman, Dr. Scott Hahn, and Amy Roberts.
Hosted by Scott Hahn with worship leader Bob Rice, the Applied Biblical Studies Conference will be held July 26-28 and is proceeded by Journey Through Scripture, an intense day-and-a-half-long training in one of three Scripture studies from the St. Paul Center. The conference theme is “The Book of Acts: How the Holy Spirit Leads the Church Through Hard Times.” Speakers include Archbishop Paul S. Coakley, Dr. Gary Anderson, Dr. Michael Barber, Dr. John Bergsma, Jeff Cavins, Kimberly Hahn, Mark Hart, Matthew Leonard, and Curtis Mitch.
Ending the summer conference season, the Defending the Faith Conference, July 28-30, will focus on “Always Reforming: Authentic Renewal, Ongoing Conversion.” Alongside host Dr. Scott Hahn and co-host Michael Hernon are speakers Jeff Cavins, Dr. Bryan Cross, Kimberly Hahn, Mark Hart, Dr. Reinhard Hutter, Patrick Madrid, Curtis Martin, Father Louis Merosne, Robert Spencer, Dr. Ted Sri, and Father Andrew Apostoli, CFR.
