STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—Franciscan University of Steubenville will take part in its first-ever GivingTuesday on December 3, 2019, to raise funds for student scholarships and financial aid.
GivingTuesday, a global online giving movement, harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage giving and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Every year on GivingTuesday, millions of people worldwide give back and change their communities. This year, the Franciscan University community will have the opportunity to touch the lives of students in need through GivingTuesday.
“It breaks my heart that some students can’t attend Franciscan or can’t remain here because they just don’t have the money. As their spiritual father, I want our students to have good things, and I believe one of the best things is the Catholic education and formation Franciscan University provides,” said Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, president of Franciscan University.
“I work with our amazing faculty and staff to form our students’ minds and souls—to help them be the witnesses of Christ’s love and truth our culture and our Church so desperately need—to help them, ultimately, to become saints,” Father Pivonka said. “For the sake of our students, but even more, for the sake of our Church and our world, I invite you to donate to Franciscan University on December 3. Your gifts—large or small—can make all the difference for our students but also for our Church and our world.”
While Franciscan University welcomes support all year, donor participation in GivingTuesday spreads the good news of Franciscan University, makes new friends for Franciscan, and funds the scholarships and financial aid some 90 percent of Franciscan students need to attend.
