STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—On February 8, Franciscan University of Steubenville Student Government and Students for Life club presented $5,000 to Kathy Barton, executive director at Steubenville’s Aim Women’s Center, to support local women in crisis pregnancies.
Student Government and the Students for Life Club work together to help students attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C. The University’s Student Life Department also contributes to this effort. With the 2021 March for Life held virtually this year, the campus organizations decided to donate the funds unspent on buses and other travel expenses to support the pro-life cause in the local community.
“Given that there wasn’t a March for Life, it was the perfect use for the money,” said Athanasius Sirilla, Franciscan University student body president.
Barton said they will use the funds “to serve women who are the most vulnerable before and after the baby is born.”
Through free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, diapers, counsel, and gift cards, Aim supports women in the Steubenville area in crisis pregnancies
