STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—On January 29, 2021, students from Franciscan University of Steubenville will stand in solidarity with unborn children and their mothers in a Life Chain. The event will take place on University Blvd. in Steubenville, Ohio, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“Whether we are in Washington, D.C., or in Steubenville, Ohio, we will still stand up to defend the right to life from conception to natural death,” said Matt Murphy, Franciscan University’s Students for Life club president. “In this way, we can keep the Ohio Valley engaged and remind people of the need to participate in pro-life activism.”

The Franciscan University Students for Life club, along with Student Government, will organize the Life Chain. Hundreds of students are expected to take part in the public witness to the sanctity of life. Members of the Steubenville community are welcome to participate. Pro-life signs will be provided.

Franciscan University of Steubenville President Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, will be in the life chain.

“At Franciscan, being pro-life means forming young people committed to loving the unborn, defending the unborn, and standing firm against laws and leaders who would deny the unborn the most foundational and fundamental right of all: the right to life,” said Father Pivonka.

The pro-life chain comes after the national March for Life in Washington, D.C., usually attended by hundreds of Franciscan students was moved online, due to the pandemic and heightened security measures at our nation’s capital.
