STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—This summer, Franciscan University of Steubenville will host five Steubenville Conferences for adults to grow in their Catholic faith through dynamic speakers, engaging workshops, Masses and Holy Hours, and opportunities for fellowship.

The conferences will focus on the theme of jubilee, drawing inspiration from Luke 4:18-19: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. . . and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”

The theme coincides with Franciscan University’s 75th jubilee anniversary, but it’s also fitting following the pandemic and other challenges of the last two years, said Franciscan University Director of Evangelization and Formation John Beaulieu.

“Through our faith in Christ, we can rise above our circumstances and rejoice in the Lord. The world has its struggles, but God’s grace is stronger,” Beaulieu said. “Steubenville Conferences provide a place where people can encounter the Lord, be renewed in their faith, and come together with a community of other Catholics.”

On June 3–5, the Power and Purpose Conference will invite participants to deepen their lives in the Holy Spirit. Hosted by Kris Frank with worship leader Deacon Bob Rice, the conference will include speakers Peter Herbeck, Heather Khym, and Franciscan University President Father Dave Pivonka, TOR.

The Priests, Deacons, and Seminarians Retreat, June 13–17, will offer renewal, rest, and encouragement for men called to Holy Orders. Speakers include Bishop Scott McCaig, Sister Mary Michael Fox, OP, Deacon Ralph Poyo, and Bishop Joseph Espaillat.

The St. John Bosco Conference, July 11–14, is geared toward catechists, Catholic school teachers, campus and youth ministers, and others who work to pass on the teachings of the Catholic faith. Speakers include Father Mike Schmitz, Bishop Donald Hying, Dr. Carole Brown, and Father Drake McCalister.

Featuring world-renowned scholars, the Applied Biblical Studies Conference will be held July 27–29. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of Scripture while hearing from speakers including Dr. Scott Hahn, Steubenville Bishop Jeffrey Monforton, Father Louis Mersone, Dr. John Bersgma, Kimberly Hahn, and Dr. Mary Healy.

Wrapping up the summer conference season is the Defending the Faith Conference on July 29–31. Helping participants to live the Gospel in everyday life will be a lineup of speakers who include Matt Fradd, Dr. Edward Sri, Trent Horn, Dr. Scott Hahn, Patrick Madrid, Steve Ray, Curtis Martin, Derya Little, and Norman Bin Yazid.
