STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—Trinity Health System and Franciscan University of Steubenville today announced a new partnership supporting Franciscan Baron athletic teams. As part of the partnership, Franciscan’s newly completed synthetic turf field will now be known as Trinity Health System Field.

Trinity Health System Field is used by Franciscan’s NCAA Division III men’s and women’s soccer, lacrosse, and track and field teams, as well as for Franciscan’s recreational and intramural contests.

It will also be used for community activities, such as an upcoming combine at which area high school athletes put their talents on display before college coaches.

Fully lighted for evening games, Trinity Health System Field is encompassed by an eight-lane track that will be finished during the phase-two construction, which will include men’s and women’s locker rooms, a new scoreboard, and other capital improvements.

“Trinity Health System has a commitment to community involvement, and there is obvious synergy between our health ministry and that of Franciscan University,” said Matt Grimshaw, CEO for the health system.  “We are excited about this opportunity to partner with Franciscan University and look forward to future projects together in our community as a whole.”

Franciscan University President Father Dave Pivonka, TOR, said, “In our formal agreement both Franciscan and Trinity Health expressed our shared mission to promote moral, spiritual, and religious values that make the presence of God known in our world. This partnership will enhance Franciscan’s mission to provide our student-athletes with faith-based, virtue-driven athletic programs.”

Franciscan University Athletic Director Scott Greve said “We are incredibly excited for this new partnership with Trinity Health System and what it will mean for Baron athletics and for the Ohio Valley. Trinity Health System Field will be a destination for athletic competition in the valley and will create opportunities for growth in our community.”
