The Ward and Kathy Fitzgerald Franciscan University Homeland Mission

Where Faith Meets Public Service in Washington, D.C.

The Ward and Kathy Fitzgerald Franciscan University Homeland Mission is a bold initiative in Washington, D.C., dedicated to forming faithful Catholic leaders to serve at the heart of American public life.

Designed as a home away from home for Franciscan students, this dynamic hub equips them—across all academic disciplines—to engage with politics, policy, and culture with clarity, conviction, and a missionary spirit.

Through strategic partnerships, immersive programming, and a shared commitment to promoting Catholic social teaching, the Homeland Mission invites collaboration that advances the common good.

Ongoing Collaborations

We are proud to work alongside mission-driven organizations across Washington, D.C. Our partners include the Heritage Foundation, the National Journalism Center, the American Principles Project, the Ethics and Public Policy Center, the Young America's Foundation, the Museum of the Bible, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, the Saint John Paul II National Shrine, and a growing number of congressional offices and federal agencies.

Together, we are creating real-world opportunities that equip students to engage public life with faith, excellence, and leadership.
