ESPN broadcaster, Steubenville’s John Buccigross, returns as Emcee.

Center Ice becomes Center Stage at Franciscan University of Steubenville on September 11, as the annual Baron Club Awards Dinner spotlights all that is great and glorious about Pittsburgh Penguins hockey.

The dinner—a fundraiser for Franciscan’s NCAA D-III athletic teams—will feature former long-time Penguins broadcaster Paul Steigerwald, who now works in the Penguins’ front office; NHL Hall of Famer and six-time Stanley Cup winner Bryan Trottier, and former Penguins player turned analyst, Colby Armstrong, who scored the first-ever goal in the outdoor Winter Classic.

Their freewheeling discussion about all things hockey will include audience questions and be moderated by former Steubenville native and ESPN broadcaster John Buccigross, who frequently covers hockey for the sports network.
At the dinner, four Ohio Valley civic and sports leaders will receive the Baron Club Award.

Tom Korab, now retired, was involved in sports and high school education in the Ohio Valley since 1965, having once coached football, baseball, boys’ and girls’ track, and girls’ volleyball. He was the head coach of the 1971 Steubenville Catholic Central State Championship football team.

Gary Kessler, owner of Steel Valley Tank, is a business leader and long-time supporter of sports, education, Historic Fort Steuben, and community events, including the Steubenville High School summer football camp.

Reverend Jason Elliot, pastor of First Westminster Presbyterian Church in Steubenville, has been involved in youth ministry, the EDGE Sports Youth Basketball League, and other community outreaches for the past 20 years.

Dan Enich II is the director of the John D. Rockefeller Career Center and director of Career Technical and Adult Education for the Hancock County School System in West Virginia. In addition to a lengthy career as an educator, he was head baseball and football coach at Weir High School and an area scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Baron Club Awards Dinner takes place Wednesday, September 11, at Franciscan University’s Finnegan Fieldhouse. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

Dinner reservations are $65 each, or $100, which includes dinner and Baron Club membership. Sponsorship opportunities range from $500—$10,000 and include autographed hockey pucks and a photo session with the speakers and John Buccigross. Register online at Franciscan.edu/BaronClub or call 740-283-6406.
