STEUBENVILLE, OHIO—Franciscan University of Steubenville has been named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance top 100 best values in private universities. Ranked 37, Franciscan University shares the list with Yale University, Johns Hopkins University, Princeton University, and many other nationally known institutions recognized by Kiplinger’s for exceptional academic quality and affordability.
Franciscan University was the fourth least expensive among all 100 schools for total cost per year. The average debt incurred upon graduation by Franciscan student was also in the bottom 20 percent of all private universities.
Each year, Kiplinger’s evaluates nearly 1,200 schools and divides them into three “top 100” categories: private universities, liberal arts colleges, and public colleges. Academic measures evaluated include the school’s admission rate, the test scores of incoming freshmen, and student-faculty ratios. On the financial side, Kiplinger’s awards the most points to schools with affordable sticker prices and ample financial aid.
