STEUBENVILLE, OH—Religious and constitutional questions continue to swirl around same-sex “marriage” and the definition of marriage. Dr. Ryan Anderson will give his perspective and that of The Heritage Foundation in his talk, “Marriage Equality and Marriage Reality at the Supreme Court: What You Need to Know About Marriage and the State.”
Anderson will speak at Franciscan University of Steubenville on Tuesday, February 10, at 7:00 p.m., in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery, J.C. Williams Center. The event is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow.
“All Americans should remain free to believe and act in the public square based on their beliefs about marriage without fear of government penalty,” said Anderson recently, writing for The Heritage Foundation. “States must protect the rights of Americans and the associations they form–both nonprofit and for-profit–to speak and act in the public square in accordance with their beliefs.”
Anderson researches and writes about marriage and religious liberty as the William E. Simon Fellow at The Heritage Foundation. He also focuses on justice and moral principles in economic thought, health care, and education, and has expertise in bioethics and natural law theory. He is the co-author of the acclaimed book, What Is Marriage? Man and Woman: A Defense. Anderson has appeared on CNN, Fox News Channel, and MSNBC, and his work has been featured in major newspapers and magazines.
Anderson’s talk is sponsored by Franciscan University’s Distinguished Speakers Series, the Veritas Center for Ethics in Public Life, and Young Americans for Freedom student club.
