What is an MBA degree?
A Master of Business Administration, or MBA, is a graduate-level degree that provides advanced skills in business management and leadership. At Franciscan University, we designed our MBA to equip you with a comprehensive business education and help you grow as a virtuous leader who makes a lasting impact.
What makes a good MBA program?
A good MBA program typically offers high-quality education, engaged and accessible faculty, globally recognized accreditation, and an extensive alumni and employer-affiliated network.
While Franciscan’s online MBA offers all these advantages, our program is set apart by our dedication to equipping virtuous leaders as a force for good in the world.
What can you do with an MBA?
Common career pathways for professionals with MBAs include:
Consulting: MBA earners are equipped to advise organizations on their most pressing challenges, combining strategic insight with a commitment to human dignity and the common good. They bring ethical discernment to solutions that shape industries, communities, and global markets.
Finance and Accounting: Whether in corporate finance, accounting, banking, or investment, Franciscan’s MBA graduates have the skills to steward resources responsibly. They balance profitability with subsidiarity, empower decision-making, and ensure that financial strategies strengthen both organizations and society.
Marketing and Brand Management: MBA graduates lead in shaping brands, strategies, and customer relationships. They approach marketing with solidarity and respect for each person's dignity, building trust while driving innovation and growth.
Operations and Supply Chain: In today’s interconnected economy, leaders in operations and supply chain face questions of efficiency, transparency, and fairness. Franciscan’s MBA alumni navigate these complexities with a global perspective that prioritizes ethical and moral practices to serve the common good.
Entrepreneurship and Startups: Many of our graduates launch ventures that create jobs and drive innovation. Grounded in subsidiarity, they empower teams and communities, while building businesses that reflect values of service, integrity, and long-term stewardship.
Technology, Analytics, and Innovation: As AI, data, and digital transformation reshape business, graduates step into roles at the intersection of business and technology. Franciscan’s MBA program stands apart by bringing not only technical and strategic expertise, but also a moral compass that emphasizes dignity, solidarity, and responsible innovation.
Nonprofit and Social Impact: Some graduates channel their expertise into mission-driven organizations, NGOs, or social enterprises. With a formation rooted in solidarity and the common good, they ensure that their leadership serves those most in need while sustaining organizational excellence.
Is an online MBA the same as an in-person MBA?
While there are fundamental differences in the format of online and traditional in-person MBA degrees, ultimately, both programs offer comprehensive business education that can transform your future.
In a typical eight-week online MBA course, you enroll in the same types of courses and accomplish the same amount of work you would be required to complete for an in-person program. However, an online MBA gives you the added benefit of taking courses wherever you are.
Will I have class at specific, scheduled times (synchronously)?
No, Franciscan’s MBA classes are asynchronous and do not have live sessions. You can access course materials—recorded lectures, readings, discussion boards, or assignments—wherever you are located.
How are classes structured?
Online MBA classes are asynchronous and delivered on a web-based Learning Management Platform. This platform will allow you to access all course materials, such as pre-recorded lectures, readings, discussion boards, assignments, and self-paced tests. Each course is eight weeks in length.
What is the benefit of having an MBA accredited by the IACBE?
Franciscan’s MBA program is accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), a respected marker of academic excellence recognized by employers and graduate institutions worldwide.
By choosing a program with IACBE accreditation, you’re assured an education that meets rigorous standards for curriculum quality, faculty expertise, student outcomes, and available resources. Additionally, earning an accredited MBA helps you stand out to employers, explore competitive job prospects, and position yourself for higher income potential.
