Nursing Faculty Opening: Tenure Track Option
The Department of Nursing at Franciscan University of Steubenville (FUS) invites applications for appointment in the undergraduate nursing program at a rank commensurate with degree and experience. Tenure-track option available to terminal-degreed candidates. The preferred candidate has extensive professional experience that can be applied in the academic environment and a commitment to the responsibilities involved with a full-time faculty role. The position begins in August 2026.

The Department of Nursing at Franciscan University of Steubenville facilitates the educational preparation of women and men as generalists on the undergraduate level and advanced practice nurses on the graduate level in the professional practice of nursing. To this end, the program is built on Catholic, Christian beliefs and values and emphasizes the dignity of the human person from conception until natural death. In advancing this mission, the Department of Nursing is centered on nursing as a healing ministry, which is focused on the health of the person in their environment. Qualifications:
- Minimal master’s degree in nursing from an accredited program; Doctoral degree preferred (e.g., Ph.D., DNP).
- Unencumbered registered nurse (RN) license; Additional advanced practice nursing (APRN) preferred.
- Evidence of an OH RN license before the first day of employment and the ability to obtain PA and WV RN licensure once hired. Compact licensure is acceptable for OH, PA, and WV.
- At least 2 years of clinical practice in clinical nursing (experience across the lifespan accepted) that includes performance of basic nursing skills.
- Experience teaching at the collegiate level.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Additional Qualifications Preferred:
- Knowledge of online/hybrid teaching methods.
- Experience in nursing research, mental health, and/or med-surg.
 Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and revise assigned nursing courses to reflect current best practices that align with the University’s mission.
- Teach and evaluate students in class, clinical, and lab.
- Actively participate in the Department of Nursing and University committees.
- Serve as academic advisor for assigned students.
- Adhere to faculty responsibilities as outlined in the University Faculty Handbook.
- Contribute to ongoing program assessment and growth.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Department Chairperson.
- Maintain licensures required for the position.
- Enhance clinical expertise when time permits.
