STEUBENVILLE, OHIO — In 1994, Immaculée Ilibagiza escaped the Rwandan massacre by hiding in a bathroom for three months, armed only with her father’s rosary beads and a Bible. On Tuesday, March 25, Immaculée will share her “Lenten Message of Faith, Hope, and Forgiveness” at Franciscan University of Steubenville’s Finnegan Fieldhouse. The event will open with praise and worship at 6:30 p.m., and Immaculée will speak at 7:00 p.m.

Since surviving the Rwandan genocide that claimed one million lives, Immaculée has gone on to tell tens of thousands of people how prayer allowed her to forgive the murderers of her family and friends. She is the author of seven books, including Left to Tell; Discovering God Amidst the Rwandan Holocaust.
