STEUBENVILLE, OH—Seven outstanding Franciscan University of Steubenville alumni will be honored at the annual Alumni Awards Banquet on Friday, October 5, in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery, J.C. Williams Center.

The event recognizes the professional achievements of these alumni and their service to the Church, Franciscan University, and society:

• Dr. Christopher Baglow, Class of 1990, Dr. John J. Carrigg Award, is the director of the Science and Religion Initiative of the McGrath Institute for Church Life at the University of Notre Dame. He authored Faith, Science, Reason: Theology on the Cutting Edge, a textbook demonstrating the compatibility between faith and reason.
• Dr. Matthew Beckman, Class of 1986, Father Dan Egan Award, is a senior scientist and lab manager at GENETWORx, a molecular diagnostics testing facility that helps health care practitioners treat their patients based on their individual genetic profile. Formerly, he led research in bone biology and regeneration at Virginia Commonwealth University.
• Ann Conant, Class of 2012, Outstanding Young Alumni Award, works as Special Assistant to the Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget in Washington, D.C. She previously worked in the White House as an assistant to the deputy director of the Domestic Policy Council.
• Michele (Krilich) Faehnle, Class of 1999, and Emily (Wilson) Jaminet, Class of 1998, Bishop John King Mussio Award, are co-authors of two books for Catholic women: The Friendship Project: The Catholic Women’s Guide to Making and Keeping Fabulous Friends and Divine Mercy for Moms. They speak to groups across the country and are in the process of writing their third book.
• Joshua McCaig, Class of 1997, Alumni Citizenship Award, is the founder of the Catholic Lawyers Guild of Kansas City and was the founding president of the Catholic Bar Association, the first national organization for Catholic legal professionals. He is a frequent guest on national television and radio programs, offering a Catholic perspective on contemporary legal and political problems.
• Robert Reynolds, Class of 2004, Professor Edward J. Kelly Award, began investing in real estate as a way to supplement his income. He and his brother founded Avesta, a real estate investment company that focuses on building apartment communities, which was ranked No. 19 nationally as a Fortune Top 100 Medium-Sized Workplace in 2017.

The evening will begin with a light reception at 6:00 p.m. in the J.C. Williams Center Atrium, followed by the banquet dinner and ceremony at 7:00 p.m. in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery.
