STEUBENVILLE, OH— St. Augustine, known for his famous conversion from sinner to doctor of the Catholic Church, will be the topic of two talks given at Franciscan University of Steubenville on Monday, November 3, 2014.
Dr. C.C. Pecknold, associate professor of theology at The Catholic University of America, will give his first talk, “Sacrifice and the City of God,” at 11:00 a.m. in the Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery, J.C. Williams Center. His second talk, “Augustine on the Powers,” will be that same day at 7:00 p.m. in the Gentile Gallery. Both talks are free and open to the public.
Pecknold is the author of several books and edited volumes, including Christianity and Politics: A Brief Guide to History and The T&T Clark Companion to Augustine and Moral Theology. He is currently writing a monograph on Augustine’s City of God.
