Biblical healing narratives bear witness to the fact that God became man to bring salvation. The fragility of the human body and soul, the experience of loneliness, and the deep wound of sin reveal our inability to be self-sufficient and our being directed toward others—and ultimately toward the Other.

Die biblischen Heilungsberichte bezeugen, dass Gott Mensch geworden ist, um Heil zu bringen. In der Gebrochenheit des menschlichen Daseins – in der Zerbrechlichkeit von Leib und Seele, in der Erfahrung von Einsamkeit, sowie in der Sünde als tiefer Verwundung – offenbart sich die Tatsache, dass wir uns nicht selbst genügen, sondern letztlich auf den Anderen verwiesen sind. Im Leiden wächst der Mensch über sich hinaus; er streckt sich aus nach „Heil“ und „Hilfe“ (vgl. Ps 121,1), die er in Begegnung sucht.

Through suffering, human beings grow beyond themselves and reach out for “salvation” and “help” (cf. Ps 121:1), which they seek in the encounter with others. These encounters do more than just comfort; they call us to communion. Healing occurs when human beings establish relationships— with their neighbors and, ultimately, with Christ himself. This raises the question of how the Lord draws near to us in our suffering: through his word, the communion of believers, and especially in the Church’s sacraments, through which his healing presence is at work. This conference will explore the following aspects: the experience of human woundedness and the cry for healing, the ways in which healing is offered in encountering Christ, and the paradoxical truth that, as someone called to love, a human person remains “vulnerable” and finds true fulfillment in his or her openness to others.

In der Begegnung wird der Mensch nicht nur getröstet, sondern zur Gemeinschaft gerufen. Heilung ereignet sich dort, wo der Mensch in Beziehung tritt – mit dem Nächsten und letztlich mit Christus selbst. So stellt sich die Frage, wie der Herr selbst dem Menschen im Leid nahekommt: in seinem Wort, in der Gemeinschaft der Glaubenden und besonders in den Sakramenten der Kirche, in denen seine heilende Gegenwart wirksam ist.

Diesen Aspekten möchte die Konferenz nachspüren: der Erfahrung menschlicher Verwundung und dem Ruf nach Heilung; den Weisen, in denen Heilung in der Begegnung mit Christus angeboten wird; und schließlich der paradoxen Wahrheit, dass der Mensch gerade als zur Liebe Berufener selbst „verwundbar“ bleibt und in dieser Offenheit für den Anderen seine eigentliche Erfüllung findet.
