STEUBENVILLE, OH—Franciscan University of Steubenville will hold a Gizmo Expo to promote science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education to elementary-aged students. The expo will be held on Friday, December 9, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in St. Junipero Serra Hall on University Boulevard.
Hosted by Franciscan engineering and education students, the event features a fun, hands-on approach for teaching science and technology to kids. Engineering students will present small interactive devices (“gizmos”) and explain the engineering design process. Education students will offer take-home lesson plans incorporating STEM concepts, including plans for building the devices at home.
The Gizmo Expo will offer grade school students the chance to engage with STEM and motivate them to pursue science and technology fields in the future. Admission is free. All are welcome to attend.
