Franciscan University’s Spring Schedule for Monday Arts and Culture Series

STEUBENVILLE, OH—The Center for Beauty at Franciscan University of Steubenville recently launched the spring series of its Monday Arts and Culture series, with the next event taking place on March 4, 2024.

All upcoming presentations are open to the public at no cost and will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the J.C. Williams Center’s Tony and Nina Gentile Gallery.

The presentation lineup is as follows:

 

Monday, March 4, 6:00 p.m.

Musical Performance

“Music by Mozart and Brahms” featuring Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members Dylan Naroff, violin and assistant concertmaster; Kelsey Blumenthal, violin; Erina Laraby Goldwasser, viola; and Karissa Shavone, cello.

 

Monday, March 25, 6:00 p.m.

Media Presentation

“The Moving Image” by Professor Linus Meldrum, associate professor of art at Franciscan University, and Dr. David Schaefer, professor of communication arts at Franciscan University.

 

Monday, April 22, 6:00 p.m.

Music Recital

“A Love Divine: Music Honoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament” featuring members of the Franciscan University Sacred Music Program.

 

Monday, April 29, 6:00 p.m.

Concert

“Music by Telemann and Bach” with Franciscan University’s New Chamber Orchestra featuring Stanley Konopka, director of Franciscan University’s New Chamber Orchestra and assistant principal violist with the Cleveland Orchestra; and chamber music and orchestra faculty with the Cleveland Institute of Music.

 

The series is sponsored by the Center for Beauty, which aims to help people develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of beauty as a living truth in its ability to touch, instruct, and move them to desire the Transcendent. The center also seeks to support Franciscan University and its local community in the production and presentation of that which is beautiful in the areas of visual arts, music, drama, and literature.
